Frango Dark Mint Chocolates

I bought a second box of Frango mints online. These were dark chocolate, like these, but also minty, like these. They were the best of both worlds! And they came in a polka dot box!

It turns out that these polka dots are just something they do for fun in the spring, and underneath the gift wrap was a regular box.

These truffles looked just like the dark ones, but they tasted a lot like the mint milk chocolate ones, only more chocolatey and paradoxically more creamy too. I think these Frango’s might be my favorite of them all!

Frango 62% Dark Chocolate

After enjoying the milk chocolate mint Frango’s, I discovered there are dark chocolate versions too. I ordered some, and this was the first one I tried, a dark chocolate with no mint.

Like the mint box, this box is stuffed with forty-six chocolate truffles. Look how dark they are!

That looked soooooo good! And it tasted great! I like these as a nice chocolate snack, and I shared them with co-workers on a Friday afternoon, and over thirty were eaten in a very short time, so I think they liked them too. One of my co-workers, Chris J., kept saying how the milk mint ones were better, but I stopped believing him after he ate his fifth or sixth dark Frango.

But I bought a dark mint box too, so I can compare their taste. You know, for science!

Ghirardelli Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Robert ordered a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner from Gobble, an ingredient and recipe delivery service, and it was fantastic! I won’t go into detail about the crab and avocado bruschetta, the blood orange salad with candied walnuts, or the filet mignon with blue cheese butter, but I will describe the wonderful chocolate covered strawberries.

All of the ingredients for the chocolate covered strawberries were inside this box. And hey, look at that, they used Ghirardelli chocolate!

The strawberries were packed loosely and the chocolate was supposed to be inside a baggie, but some got loose. Don’t worry. They got eaten too.

Robert melted the chocolate and dipped the strawberries after we had dinner. They were amazing!

I would guess the chocolate was dark and around 60% cacao, plus or minus 5%. Very good for strawberry coverage, and very delicious too!
